Chileda's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavior challenges. Chileda's goal is to help students increase their appropriate social behaviors and develop independent living skills, through an enriched learning environment and individualized behavior programming. We are now accepting applications for a Mental Health Counselor . Summary: The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing counseling and support services for children, adolescents, and their families in Chileda's residential care program, STEP (Short Term Empowerment Program), and day services program. This role works as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, working toward increasing skills of both the children/adolescents and treatment and the families to promote successful transitions into less restrictive placements. This position may be filled by an individual who is eligible to conduct third-party billing for services. Status Info: This is a FT, exempt role that comes with Chileda's generous benefits plan. There is an option for this to be a PT role as well. Hours are generally 9a-5p, Monday through Friday. Skills: Applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work as a team member and cooperatively with County agencies, community stakeholders, and school districts as needed. Must maintain agency, co-worker, and client confidentiality and abide by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. Job Duties Include: Evaluate clients' mental condition based on review of client information, interviews, observation, tests, and collaboration with other team members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plan goals. Develop and implement treatment plan goals based on the Diagnostic Assessment, clinical experience and knowledge. Collaborate with internal and external team members including families, school staff, social workers, and other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process. Conduct activities related to compliance with federal and state laws related to mandated reporting and HIPPA. Education Requirements: Master's degree, or currently obtaining, in Professional Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology. Current licensure, or willing/able to pursue, as a LPC, LMFT, LCSW or LPCC. Must maintain professional licensure and/or certification throughout course of employment once obtained.
