Massage Therapist (423)Department: CRYSTAL LAKE ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE CL (11836040)Schedule: Part timeShift: Days/PMAbout Facility: Hours: Variable hours, some evenings requiredJob Information: JOB DESCRIPTION Performs massage therapy treatments to clients, via system referral. Participates in program development and promotion of services by providing community and staff education. Assists in developing procedures. Other duties as assigned. May be required to work alternate shifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Applies the techniques of scientific massage to assist in the rehabilitation of sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations, as well as to help eliminate pian from neuritic, arthritic, and rheumatic conditions. Applies massage to relieve various forms of paralysis, insomnia, migraine headaches, and other conditions caused by poor functioning of the nervous system. Provides relief of muscle tightness caused by stress and shortens recovery time for injured athletes with massage therapy. Works with various agents to complement massage, including application of heat and light, hydrotherapy (water treatment), and exercise. Submits periodic reports to treatment team or Physician to provide clinical data for evaluation. A.) from four-year college or university; or 1 to 2 yrs related skills and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and background. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Illinois State Massage Therapy License OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Massage Therapy certification WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the workplace atmosphere is usually moderate. WORK CONTACT GROUP Physicians, Partners, Patient/Family, other referral sources SPECIAL PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to ten pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and expertise to adjust focus. LEVEL OF SUPERVISION work requires a high-level of independent judgement. the position has substantial latitude for independent action. SUPERVISES This job has no supervisory responsibilities
