The position is with a leading midsize accounting and advisory firm based in Vancouver and Toronto The requirement is for Cross Border Tax Manager to join our tax practice in our office preferably in Vancouver or Toronto. They are looking for an individual who is committed to a career in taxation and has the desire to take a lead role in managing tax engagements and contributing both to the growth of the firm and our clients The tax practice offers the opportunity to work in a range of tax and succession planning areas including estate & trust compliance, personal and corporate tax planning, purchase and sale of private businesses, estate planning, and cross border investment and compliance. Responsibilities Working closely with all Tax Partners and other Senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision and tax advisory engagements Manage and coordinate tax planning and compliance services for individuals requiring US and Canadian income or estate tax filings Manage risk and financial performance of engagements, including billing, collections and project budgets Review backssments and correspond with the IRS, state authorities and CRA on various issues Build and manage client relationships at a senior level; advise clients by delivering high quality tax service and advice Actively mentor and coach staff to their highest potential Supporting and mentoring firm staff in respect of tax matters Identifying client service opportunities Qualifications US and/or Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) Minimum of 5 year’s relevant work experience Comprehensive understanding of the Canada-US Tax Treaty Completion of the In-Depth Tax Program or Masters of Tax Program Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written Ability to multi-task and manage a demanding workload and multiple deadlines Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and develop team members Proficiency in Case Ware, Tax Prep, Tax Find, CCH, Intelliconnect and MS office.
