The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary Position summary: Supervises the maintenance, renovation, restoration, and upkeep of the parish/rectory/school buildings and grounds, including all mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. Conducts preventative maintenance, safety and energy conservation audits. Supervises volunteers, supervises outside contractors as needed and personally performs higher-level maintenance functions. Requires extensive experience in building maintenance work. The Maintenance Worker is a member of the Parish Facilities and Maintenance Committee. This is 40 hours per week. Salary based on experience level. Benefits package offered. Duties and Responsibilities: Monitors custodial and volunteer staff Establishes work assignments including observing daily condition of grounds Maintains clean and safe environment in work areas Works with volunteers as directed Maintains communication with appropriate persons Maintains open channels of communication with parish and school staff Verifies contractor activity Communicates, schedules, and accompanies all inspectors (fire, health, insurance, etc.) on their rounds and relates the outcomes Works with the Facilities and Maintenance Committee Performs as an operations technician Maintains buildings and equipment Performs routine repairs Follows instructions and sets programming, i.e., thermostats, bells, etc. Reports needed supplies for maintenance as necessary Refers supplier contracts to Pastor/ Maintenance Supervisor Verifies receipt and condition of supplies Attends seminars as requested or needed Maintains open file of emergency systems, i.e., security, plumbing, electrical, fire, sewage, etc. Fulfills all other duties as assigned by the Pastor Knowledge and Experience Requirements: Must have and be able to perform minor repairs of buildings and equipment; having mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and painting skills Must have good interpersonal communication skills Must have ability to organize and prioritize time Must have ability to perform outlined tasks Must have ability to supervise others Considerable knowledge of custodial and janitorial supplies, equipment, and materials Considerable knowledge of methods used in janitorial work Ability to plan, organize, assign, supervise, and inspect the work of helpers Ability to keep routine records and make reports Manage budgets in a fiscally responsible manner Requirements of Posititon: Evening and weekend work will be required for emergencies or special events Work with machinery and equipment requiring considerable caution Exposure to climate changes and uncomfortable temperatures Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for long periods Work off ladders and stepladders Work under sinks and around appliances by bending down or lying on your back Read and be able to comprehend repair instructions and programming of systems Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities The Archdiocese of St. Louis is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
