Job Description: To assist in basic care and backssment of the patient as support to, and under the supervision of, a registered nurse/senior support staff. To follow individualised care and therapeutic programmes for patients under the instruction of the nursing staff/senior support staff. To provide support to patients with their personal care. To be informed and aware of the patients clinical condition and individual circumstances to ensure the care and comfort of clients. To promote communications and act as an advocate for patients who have experienced difficulty in communicating. To contribute to the patients plan of treatment by communicating any observations of patients behaviours to the nurse-in-charge during periods of duty. To work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to promote quality care. Work in collaboration with the patient, involving them at all times with their care. To ensure, by attitude, approach and response, the continuation of good working relationships between staff and patients within the unit. To support the qualified staff in the admission and discharge procedure. To ensure the relevant policies in respect of patients property and valuables are maintained. To support staff in promoting recreation/leisure amongst patients. To contribute to the promotion of patients education and well-being. To monitor and encourage and record patients in their consumption of food and drink. Accompany appropriate patients off site as and when required. To undertake the relevant management of aggression training such as or MAPA. To assist in the maintenance of a safe environment. To participate in the observation of patients at risk. To promote and maintain beneficial relationships between relatives/patients and carers in liaison with other appropriate agencies. To participate in all projects and research schemes to improve the quality of the patients life. To be aware of and comply with Health & Safety, Fire Regulations.
