The Junior Staff Accountant primarily assisting the Accounts Payable department. However, this isn't your typical accounts payable role. This individual will utilize and refine existing data-driven workflows to be able to process 5,000+ vendor invoices monthly; matching invoices with purchase orders, communicating discrepancies, and ultimately uploading invoices into our accounting system. Managing our top-tier vendors, this role is highly visible at all levels of the organization. Previous individuals in this role have been promoted and perform a variety of tasks within the Accounting Department and the organization as a whole. Additionally, this role will gain exposure to full-cycle, general ledger accounting and have a great opportunity for growth within the Department. This is the place for a team member to forge his/her own path while gaining insight into a dynamic growing, multi-faceted company. The Junior Staff Accountant reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and will work closely with the Accounting Operations Manager and Corporate Controller. Essential Functions of the Job: Process a high volume of invoices matching POs through Excel using advanced Excel Formulas. Aid in creating and maintaining accounting database reports through SQL. Assure proper coding of expense category. Perform vendor analysis. Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries. Reconcile vendor statements. Work closely with service department managers. Assist with month-end close procedures and financial reporting. Must be discreet and have a high regard for confidential information. Quality control-the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. Must believe that a given task is neither above nor beneath them; some days you may need to manually code and enter invoices while other days you may be asked to perform a high-level analysis. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Minimum of 4-year degree (Accounting or Business), prefer Bachelor in Accounting. 1-2 years of experience in a corporate or public accounting function. Advanced Excel experience required. SQL Database knowledge preferred. Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook and Word). Sage Intacct experience a plus. Must be able to work independently, multi-task and prioritize effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
