Students without the prerequisite will be asked to fill out a questionnaire on their knowledge of and background in Italian. Estimated course enrolment: 30 Estimated TA support: N/A Class schedule: Monday 9:00 am — 10:00 am, Wednesday 9:00 am — 10:00 am, Friday 9:00 am — 10:00 am Please note, this course is scheduled to be delivered in person. Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2024 – April 30, 2024 Salary (includes vacation pay): Sessional Lecturer I: $18,915.79 Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term: $19,861.58 Sessional Lecturer II: $20,243.53 Sessional Lecturer II, Long Term: $20,653.23 Sessional Lecturer III: $20,725.52 Sessional Lecturer III, Long Term: $21,140.03 Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications: A Ph D in Italian Studies or equivalent is required. Native or near native proficiency in Italian is required. Demonstrable and proven skills in explaining grammar concepts clearly and concisely with relevant Italian examples are required. Demonstrable and proven skills in describing and explaining Italian cultural items with relevant comparison to the North American cultural milieu are required. Some previous experience in teaching Italian language at the intermediate level is required. Preferred qualifications: Extended and demonstrated excellence in teaching, and designing, language courses in a variety of academic contexts is preferred.
