In our vibrant, highly diverse community, technology serves to support learning by all constituencies, ensure smooth functioning of all school departments and programs, and connect members of our community to each other and to the world. The Director will lead, collaborate with, and support colleagues at all levels in serving each of these needs. A successful candidate will be simultaneously innovative and practical, will have the student learning experience at the center of their approach, and will uphold the school’s Mission, Values, and Commitment to Equity in all aspects of their work. The Director reports to the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning. Focus and Responsibilities: Oversee planning, implementation, outsourcing, integration, maintenance, upgrades and replacement, and ongoing operations of technology and data resources Serve as project manager for the selection and implementation of new technologies to serve the school’s needs in the academic, operations, advancement, and communication areas among others Anticipate technological needs and opportunities, monitor trends and innovation, and make actionable recommendations to keep the school’s systems and approaches current Provide strategic vision and direction for the school’s technology use and tools; with senior leadership, create and maintain a long-range technology plan to support the school’s mission and strategic goals Collaborate closely with colleagues at all levels to identify and adapt to current and future technology needs Facilitate the effective configuration and use of all hardware and software to maximize the power of the tool and end-user experience Oversee the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all school database systems; establish and regularly update policies and practices to ensure high-quality data across platforms Ensure robust, efficient and effective data and cyber integrity, integration security, back up, and disaster recovery, and lead periodic audits of all data and systems protection measures across the school Stay current on best practices in data security and data protection, and create and regularly update policies and practices in these and other areas to maintain the highest standards of security, privacy, appropriate access, and usability Oversee the design and implementation of technology support and education internally and facilitate access to external support and learning opportunities Oversee the technology budget and collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to maintain long-range budget planning for technology needs in academic and non-academic areas Regularly audit the school’s technology and data systems for cost-effectiveness, redundancy, user experience, and effectiveness Lead and model a customer-service culture in the technology department Lead a team of technology professionals serving academic and non-academic needs across the school, supporting the team’s growth and fostering innovative solutions to the school’s needs Ensure effective and timely communication to leaders and end users about technology use, integration, maintenance, and other aspects Ensure effective network administration; collaborate with colleagues at NCIS, which manages aspects of the school’s facilities and technology infrastructure, to ensure robust and up-to-date network systems, phone service, and other core functions in all parts of the school’s campus Uphold and advance the school’s mission, values, and commitment to equity Participate actively in professional communities, and foster the same in the technology team Key qualities : Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as proficiency with presentation and group facilitation An appetite for exploration and innovation in the service of the school’s needs Change management skills to support effective implementation of new tools and processes A data-driven approach to evaluating existing and new solutions Forward-thinking, pragmatic, and diplomatic leadership that is sensitive to the needs of a dynamic and diverse faculty and staff An ability to foster a productive working environment among team members and support employee growth A collaborative, cooperative, empathetic, collegial, innovative, and patient mindset Qualifications and experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, advanced degree desirable Experience with technology planning and implementation Experience with developing and managing program budgets Experience of school setting strongly preferred; CETL certification desirable Must be authorized to work in the United States Salary range for this position is $120,000-$155,000 depending on experience and qualifications EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY POLICY French American International School is committed to providing an open, fair, inclusive, non-discriminatory environment for all individuals across differences of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, socio-economic status, ethnicity, age, physical ability, or medical condition.
