Head Chef at Jules Bistro, 924 Queen Street West, Toronto, a traditional French Bistro specializing in dishes from Lyon. Position is full-time, 40 hrs/week. One Vacancy. Tip-sharing with floor staff. Responsibilities: - Working with the executive chef, planning daily menus and ensuring that the food meets the restaurant's high standard, quality and consistency- Supervise and coordinate activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers to deliver our customer’s food orders in a timely manner - Create new recipes- Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff- Prepare, cook, and plate food to meet the needs of our customers, including: Create, prepare, set prices on a minimum of the three weekend special meals and all special events- Purchase the required amount of food and kitchen supplies needed to ensure that our customer’s orders are met while keeping food costs in keeping with company guide lines- Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs- Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards- Work with front of house staff to prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances - Recruit and hire all members of kitchen team- Ensure that the kitchen is maintained in accordance with government health regulations Requirements: - Culinary diploma or certification - Two years' experience Apply by email to: xyz X@bistro- with cover letter, resume, and references.
