Genetic Counselor - Phoenix, AZ We have a new opportunity for a Genetic Counselor to educate and counsel patients/families on role of genes and heredity in the development of cancer in Phoenix, Arizona. The chosen Genetic Counselor will have substantial prior genetic counseling experience, a comprehensive understanding of hereditary cancer syndromes, and thorough knowledge of options available to reduce cancer risk. Responsibilities: Coordinate & implement a cancer genetics education, counseling & testing program Identify patients who might be candidates for cancer genetic testing Meet with patients and family members to educate and counsel them on the role of genes and heredity in the development of cancer Discuss the risks and benefits of genetic testing Communicate with labs and insurance companies to secure coverage for genetic testing Work in collaboration with the physician to discuss test results and medical recommendations Inform patients/families of the risks, benefits and limitations of genetic test results Requirements: MS in Genetic Counseling from an accredited American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) program 2-3 years experience in cancer genetic counseling Comprehensive understanding of hereditary cancer syndromes, elements of genetic counseling, testing, interpretation of results and options available to reduce cancer risk(s) Knowledge of software utilized in cancer genetic counseling and cancer risk assessment The Genetic Counselor will be rewarded with a market leading compensation package including an impressive salary and an extensive menu of health and retirement benefits.
