Reporting to the Manager, Community Development, the Food Access Worker is responsible for the operation of food programming within the Rooming House Project. The Food Access Worker will work with peers, volunteers and tenants of the Rooming Houses and food access partners, to reduce barriers to healthy food. The Food Access Worker will facilitate cooking, life skills groups, assist with coordination of peers and volunteers, recruit tenants to programs, skills training and conduct health promotion activities related to food access, food security and healthy eating. The Food Access Worker will work collaboratively with other Housing Support Workers on the team to coordinate programing and activities that suit the food security, harm reduction and social health needs of tenants. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Food Preparation/Cooking Prepare, plan nutritious meals that educate volunteers on budgeting, health, and life skills. Prepares and handles food and operates a kitchen safely, in accordance with regulations established by the Toronto Department of Public Health. Work collaboratively with Community Partners to provide access to community support for the food club/food bank as well as facilitating cooking with peers and volunteers for programs and drop in.
