The Auditor General of Nova Scotia is an officer of the House of Assembly, nonpartisan and independent of government. The Auditor General derives their mandate, authority and responsibilities from the Auditor General Act. The Auditor General’s mandate includes issuing opinions on government financial reports and conducting performance audits on public sector operations. By exercising these responsibilities, the Auditor General helps the House of Assembly hold the government to account for its management of public funds and contributes to a well-performing public sector. What you will do: Under the supervision of senior auditors, the financial audit co-op/summer student assists in the conduct of financial audits. This may include being involved in testing and evaluating internal controls and transactions, backssing business processes, performing analysis and reviewing compliance with policy and legislation. As part of an audit team, you will work with provincial government organizations, adding value and gaining valuable on-the-job experience. Limited travel within Nova Scotia may be required.
