Steel River Group is looking for a Controller to join our team in our Calgary office. The Controller oversees the accounting operations of the company. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, attentive, and efficient. He/she can complete work skillfully and independently. The Controller must be good at giving and receiving constructive feedback. Key Responsibilities: Manage the accounting team, including Accounting Leads , A/R, A/P a nd Payroll staff Ensure corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls are in accordance with GAAP, applicable regulations and laws, and best practices are followed. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries and supporting documentation, including analysis of final posted balances Oversee A/P, A/R and payroll activities of all Steel River companies. Accountable for aspects of accounting of all Steel River companies Responsible for reviewing monthly reconciliations of the cash, equity, debt, and intercompany account balances and periodic reconciliation of other general ledger account balances Responsible for the preparation of monthly/annual financial statements Ensure corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls are in accordance with GAAP, applicable regulations and laws, and best practices are followed Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts Ensue controls are in place to adequately monitor the company’s approvals matrix for various corporate payments Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly GST/WCB/QST analysis and filings Propose recommendations for process improvements to support efficiency and effectiveness of day to day activities Provide project control functions as required Support month end and year end close process Lead the annual audit of financial statement and quarterly reviews and liaise with external accountants/auditors as required L ead process improvement through automation of processes including building Power Apps or Dashboard.
