Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members. This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Women's Services - Dorothy Day Place How You Will Make an Impact The Cook / Housekeeper enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for housekeeping and food preparation services Ensures the overall cleanliness and respectful appearance of the facility, maintaining adequate supplies for housekeeping and meal preparation Cooking/preparing 3X meals a day for up to 75 residents, meal planning, serving meals to residents, cleaning and sanitization of kitchen, appliance Supports an environment that is welcoming and dignified Other duties as related to cooking/housekeeping services What You'll Bring to Our Team High school diploma. Previous cooking experience required Demonstrate flexibility in the carrying out of their work in response to client and organizational needs and must be able to adapt to the changing needs of a diversity of clients accessing service Hospitality and availability is aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and hospitable to clients. Residential or commercial kitchen cooking experience is required, menu planning experience is preferred Experience in inventory management is an asset Experience in the food serving.
