whitespace POSITION SUMMARYThe Continuous Improvement Specialist (CIS) is focused on driving the Continuous Improvement (CI) culture offshore, ensuring that all roles are enabled to, and perform, CI as an integral component of the Hess Way of Working. The CIS will partner with the GOM Technology and Innovation team to assist in technology deployment offshore and provide input where innovation is required to enable higher performance or where it could help eliminate a root cause identified through structured problem:solving. The CIS will help the offshore team develop skills to drive improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) performance. This individual will advocate for new ways of working to drive performance improvements through a step:change in operational metrics. The role involves training and coaching of team members, as well as facilitation of improvement activities to help drive improvements across SQDC. This role is expected to understand Lean concepts, including standards and standard work, training, and coaching, structured problem:solving, 5S, kaizen, waste identification / reduction, process mapping, and to deepen technical and lean skills while in the position. This position will be located Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on a rotational basis (14/14). ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIESSafety and RegulatoryThe CIS complies with Environment, Health, and Safety (EH and S) and regulatory requirements: - Comply with all requirements in the GOM Management Systems documents and Hess EH and S standards and practices as defined within the Hess EH and S and Social Responsibility (SR) Management System - Understand Stop Work Authority (SWA) and Ultimate Work Authority (UWA) per the GOM Operational Management System Manual, proactively using SWA when necessary - Reinforce the importance of using and participating in the Safety Observation Card (SOC) and Leadership Site Visits (LSV) programs - Facilitate and support structured problem:solving for EH and S and regulatory incidents as appropriate - Perform emergency response duties as appropriate - Comply with all requirements in the Hess Operational Management System (HOMS) documents Production, Maintenance, Reliability, and Integrity (MR and I)The CIS demonstrates responsibility for the following Production and MR and I deliverables: - Champion Autonomous Maintenance (AM) implementation and support sustainability / recognition efforts through Leader Standard Work (LSW) - Own the Defect Tracker and drive the reduction of defects through structured problemsolving - Act as a key driver in the Defect Elimination Process to: - Facilitate the initial Root Cause Analysis (RCA) while coaching front:line to build problem:solving skills - Obtain and document evidence and supporting documents for the RCA - Ensure appropriate countermeasures are identified through structured problemsolving - Submit RC notification within the required timeframe as per standards - Steward progress of defects and countermeasures through the system through use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Drive the opportunity register process to enable continuous improvement - Facilitate and support structured problem:solving, including, but not limited to: - Production losses - Recurrent bad actors Incidents and near:misses - Work management planning, scheduling, and execution issues - Support and provide input to improve: - The health of barrier processes Construction, projects, scheduling, and maintenance programs Vendor management and supply chain management execution - Recognize and support efforts to optimize operational work processes and execution - Lead and participate in meetings as designated by the agreed Terms of Reference (TOR) LeanThe CIS partners and co
