Introduction: Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters, 1 of the nation's oldest mentoring organizations, transforms lives through friendship. We introduce children in need to adult mentors, and we match adults who have disabilities to new friends in their communities. Job description: The Community Organizer grows volunteer recruitment, increases donor participation and encourages children and families in need and adults who have disabilities to utilize JBBBS programs and services. (S)he does this by cultivating the JBBBS "community" at large: growing strong, sustainable partnerships with individuals and organizations committed to advancing the JBBBS mission. His/her primary constituents are past, present and prospective volunteers in our Children's and Friend two Friend Programs. Duties: Utilizing a Community Organizing Model, conducts outreach to new and existing community partners Assists team toward meeting and exceeding its child and volunteer recruitment targets Cultivates at least 3 new organizational/institutional relationships per quarter on behalf of the JBBBS organization while maintaining contact with existing partners Engages and mobilizes JBBBS cohorts around the issues underpinning our work (i.e. poverty, bullying, discrimination based on disability or identity as GLBTQ) Serves as agency liaison to JBBBS cohorts, including the Young Professionals' Outreach/Recruitment Committee, growing participation of such cohorts in all facets of agency life but especially volunteerism Facilitates speaking engagements including representing the agency at info sessions and volunteer fairs Organizes recruitment events (i.e. house meetings, details sessions and young professionals' events) Responds to requests for details from prospective volunteers; conducts timely pre-screening calls and data-entry Represents Recruitment Team and JBBBS at relevant internal and external meetings Participates in professional development opportunities Performs other duties as required in support of agency recruitment operations Min entrance qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related position (Master's preferred) 2-4yrs' background in workforce development/recruitment or volunteer management 2-4yrs' background in grassroots community organizing with background in mission-driven, non-profits (preferred) Comfortable interfacing with all levels of staff and outside constituents including prospective and current volunteers, donors and others Commitment to client and donor confidentiality and child safety Familiarity with Greater Boston Jewish and/or interfaith communities (preferred) To apply: Send introductory letter and résumé, via e-mail, to Manager of Recruitment and Communications – subject line "Community Organizer/Recruiter" – at XXXX@jbbbs.org .
