Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Miller Setter to join our defence client based in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in operating and running CNC milling machines with a focus on precision and quality. The ideal candidate should have the ability to read geometric drawings, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in using measuring instruments. Safety consciousness and adherence to safety procedures are paramount in this role. Responsibilities: Operate and run CNC milling machines, specifically with Bridgeport/Heidenhain control systems. Read and interpret geometric drawings with a keen eye for detail. Utilize measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Document actions by completing production and quality logs. Control tolerances as specified in drawings. Operate other machine shop equipment for simple tasks, such as Pillar drills and manual mills. Setting: Set up CNC mills to perform various tasks and operations with Bridgeport/Heidenhain control systems. Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches, calculating requirements using basic math skills. Produce first: off components at the beginning of production runs. CMM (desirable): Operate a Mitutoyo CMM machine with proficiency. Program and set tolerances on the CMM. Program directly from solid models, if applicable. Qualifications: Proven experience as a CNC Miller Setter. Ability to read geometric drawings accurately. Strong communication skills. Proficiency in using measuring instruments. Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations. Experience with Bridgeport/Heidenhain control systems. Familiarity with other machine shop equipment (Pillar drills, manual mills).
