Description:Job Summary:The Clinical Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and supporting the clinical work of behavioral health professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health services to clients. The Clinical Manager of Behavioral Health is responsible for providing clinical supervision and guidance to a team of behavioral health professionals, including counselors, social workers and licensed support staff. This role ensures that the agency's mental health services adhere to ethical and evidence-based standards while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and accreditations. The manager will provide oversight to the Mansfield/Ashland behavioral health sites as well as providing patient care.Requirements:Essential Job Duties: Provide leadership and guidance to the behavioral health department, ensuring that all staff members are effectively carrying out their roles and responsibilities. Supervise and support clinicians, therapists, and support staff. Provide clinical supervision and support to the behavioral health staff, including therapists, counselors, and community psychiatric supportive treatment staff. Review and when appropriate sign-off on patient visit notes. Provide direct patient services as expected per service, area or location. Conduct behavioral health diagnostic assessments: thorough assessments of patients' social, emotional, and environmental factors that may impact their overall health and well-being. Ensure the provision of crisis services including covering crisis services as needed including crisis assessments, Law Enforcement Ally Program, Youth Crisis Response Team, Local Emergency Planning Committee, among others. Support patients in managing their mental health challenges and improving their qualify of life by providing counseling and therapy. This could include individual, family or group counseling to patients dealing with a range of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, or substance abuse. Creates positive relationship with patients, their families, guardians or agency representatives. Collaborate with other health care professionals within the health center such as doctors, nurses, and case managers to coordinate the patient's care plan. This involves ensuing that patients have access to the necessary resources, such as health care referrals, social services, housing assistance or financial aid programs. Serve as an advocate for patients, helping them navigate complex systems and connecting them with community resources or case managers. Support health education efforts for patients by promoting preventive care, healthy lifestyle choices, and self-care techniques. Utilize education to empower patients to take an active role in managing their health and well-being. Provide immediate support and appropriate crisis interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of patients including during incidents of domestic violence, child abuse, and suicidal ideation. Meet productivity requirements for bill ables and/or patient visits annually. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of your interactions with patients, treatment plans, progress notes and referrals. Observe and conform to the policies, procedures and standards of Third Street Family Health Services. Collaborate in a professional manner with all members of the health care team. Advocate and refer individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance abuse/addiction to community agencies for treatment. Network with local social service agencies to remain knowledgeable about available services and the referral process for those services. Maintenance of all required licensure, certification, registration, training, behavioral health knowledge (including but not limited to new or changing treatments and standards of care), and or expertise to meet the needs of patients as determined by the organization. Acquisition of additional trainings, licensures, or certificates as deemed necessary in the ongoing determination and mission to meet the needs of patients and the community. Observe and conform to all laws, customs and ethics applicable to the behavioral health profession. Practice, communicate, and embody the dispassionate and unbiased delivery of care regardless of personal bias or prejudice and as appropriate for a professional of the rank of LISW. Communicate with the leadership team on all matters relating to malpractice insurance status, including notification of any claims and full compliance with the risk management policies and procedures of Third Street. Support the professional growth and development of the behavioral health staff by providing effective people management: Provide regular feedback to direct reports, documenting the feedback in the personnel file. Complete annual reviews and peer reviews in a timely and effective manner Respond to people-related tasks involving new talent, employee engagement and career development Train and motivate employees while optimizing productivity within the health center On-board new team members to their role and department As a hiring manager, actively participate in the hiring of new employees, following all applicable policies, procedures and employment law including EEOC. Clinical Managers working in community mental health locations, participate in 24/7 call coverage equitably with the Director of Behavioral Health and the Chief of Behavioral Health. Ensure that the behavioral health department complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines. Implement quality assurance measures and monitor the effectiveness of services provided. Be a positive role model for all center staff. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Duties: Counselors: Counselor in Training, LPC; LPCC; LSW; LISW, Clinical Support staff: CDCA, QMHS, CPST Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of: Evidence-based behavioral health practices, therapeutic modalities, and treatment approaches for mental health and substance abuse disorders. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing behavioral health services, including HIPAA, state licensing requirements, and accreditation standards. Program development and evaluation methodologies, including needs assessments, outcome measurements, and quality improvement processes. Crisis management protocols and experience in handling crisis situations, including suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and coordination with emergency services. Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide direction, motivate staff, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Experience in managing and supervising a team of clinicians and support staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with staff, clients, community partners, and stakeholders. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to identify problems, develop innovative solutions, and make informed decisions in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Abilities: Cultural Competence: Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and understanding of the impact of culture on mental health. Ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and understanding when working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, as well as effectively managing one's own emotions and stress. Adapt to changing priorities, work demands, and emerging trends in the field of behavioral health. Advocate for the needs of individuals with behavioral health issues, raising awareness, and promoting mental health initiatives within the community. Ability to coach and mentor staff effectively. Qualifications: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Graduate of a mater level accredited social work or clinical counselor program. Ohio LISW or LPCC state license. Experience as a counselor, preferably in the community clinic setting. Supervisory experience, preferred. Personal Contacts: Frequent contact with staff of community agencies and the general public. Daily contact with agency staff. Must develop and maintain positive relationships with all of the above. Environmental & Physical Requirements: Mobility: must be able to move independently and safely throughout the workplace, including offices, counseling rooms, and common areas. Manual dexterity: should have sufficient hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to perform tasks such as writing, typing, operating computer systems, and handling paperwork. Visual and auditory abilities: must have adequate vision and hearing abilities to effectively communicate with clients, read written materials, and interpret non-verbal cues during counseling sessions. Speech and communication: should possess clear and effective verbal communication skills to facilitate open dialogue with clients, colleagues, and other health care professionals. Sitting or standing: should be able to sustain a seated or standing position for extended periods while meeting with patients/clients/external visitors, attending meetings, or performing administrative tasks. Emotional resilience: must have the emotional stability and resilience to work with clients/patients/coworkers facing challenging circumstances, maintaining composure and professionalism during difficult discussions.
