Position Overview The Group Leader will perform a variety of tasks at the afterschool childcare facility. Essential Job Functions Monitors the activities and playtime of children at the facility. Plans and organizes games and recreational activities for children in a group setting. Occasionally plans and teaches activities such as arts and crafts, designed to improve fine and gross motor skills. Encourages children's emotional, social, and physical development, and positive self-concept. Monitors signs of emotional and developmental issues in children and notifies parents, guardians, or authorities of concerns when necessary. Implements developmentally appropriate disciplinary measures to maintain control in the classroom and facility. Cleans and sanitizes toys, furniture, and play equipment. Maintains records on individual children including daily observations, activities, meals served, and medications administered. Create a fun and safe learning environment. Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime. Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents. Communicate with parents on students' growth and progress. Maintain the health and safety of all students. Competencies Passionate about working with children. Ability to build rapport with children and parents. Positive and patient demeanor. Ability to maintain integrity, discretion, and fair mindedness. Required Education and Experience HS Diploma/ GED required. 2 years of verifiable experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields. Must commit to on-going training, including but not limited to, CPR and First Aid certification training. Job Specifications Must pass background check and drug screen. Other Duties and Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve Bank and departmental goals. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs at a time. Will be exposed to illness causing bacteria and viruses. Supervisory Responsibility Group Leader may mentor other childcare workers.
