Reportable to the Director of Behavior Support Services, the Behavior Support Specialist will provide behavioral support for persons supported by The Arc and their support teams. Primary roles of this position are to provide comprehensive behavior assessments, develop strategies to support individuals based on the assessments and to provide the provision of interventions and training necessary to identify and transfer needed skills to aid individuals, staff, family and caregivers. The overall goal of this position is to promote the agency's mission and to enhance service provisions by providing comprehensive behavior support that encompasses all behavioral planning strategies designed to support the individual. Education/Experience: 1. Must meet the professional education or licensure criteria in one of the following three sets of requirements: a. A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis or Gerontology. Furnish copies of degree indicating field of study. If diploma does not indicate field of study, official or unofficial transcripts indicating major and coursework would need to be provided. b. PA Behavior Specialist License (licensed in the state of PA where services are provided). Copy of current Pennsylvania Behavior Specialist License required and must be maintained. c. A Licensed psychiatrist, psychologist, professional counselor, social worker (master's level or higher). Copy of current license from Pennsylvania required and must be maintained. 2. Possess at least 2 years' experience working with individuals who have IDD/Autism. 3. Have prior training & knowledge in conducting and using Functional Behavioral Assessment & positive behavioral support or be willing to complete such training. Additional qualifications: 1. Must be 18 years of age or older. 2. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving history per agency policy. Be able to provide/attain transportation to and from work in locations across Centre County, as scheduled. If transporting individuals in personal vehicle will need to meet additional insurance liability standards along with maintaining current vehicle registration & state inspections. 3. Obtain a physical examination as required by ODP regulations. 4. Obtain Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, FBI Criminal History Check, and Child Abuse Clearances in accordance with the Department of Human Services regulations.
