Description:
POSITION GOAL To perform in a responsible and accurate manner semiskilled work under the supervision of a skilled journey trades employee and all tasks geared to improving the skill and proficiency of the apprentice with the ultimate promotion to a journey trades classification. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Receive assignments and work under the direct supervision of a journey trades employee. Work from ladders or scaffolding. Assume responsibility for all materials assigned until they are properly expended and recorded. Service equipment when so directed by immediate supervisor. Assume responsibility and effect repairs when trained. Comply with all aspects of the indenturement agreement, including appropriate number of hours in attendance for on-the-job training and schooling necessary for the designated trade. Purchase all necessary textbooks or other materials related to apprenticeship training and pay registration fees as required for such training. Follow both written and oral instructions. Work well with others. Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignments. Operate School Board owned vehicle in a safe manner and assume responsibility for all supplies and equipment on the vehicle. Complete all projects in a competent workmanlike manner and ensure proper recording of time and materials. Perform all duties which require extensive physical effort such as climbing, lifting over 60 pounds, pulling, etc. Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities. Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies. Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
