We're one of the world's largest industrial gases businesses and you see our work every day, often without realizing it.POSITION QUALIFICATION SUMMARY:Great opportunity to become part of the Adsorption R&D team. You will work together on the development and application of new adsorption technology to generate additional value from product lines including Praxair's Oxygen Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption (VPSA). This will require an expertise to work well with diverse program teams with representatives from R&D, engineering, operations and business. The technical work in this position includes development, testing, and application of porous adsorbent materials as enablers for more efficient adsorptive separation processes through matching material characteristics and process needs. This requires knowledge of diverse adsorbent materials and their testing, and will span design, synthesis, characterization, and qualification of adsorbents to improve economics of adsorptive processes and systems. Assignments will involve both independent and team-oriented activities. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:- Strong technical and people skills are required together with a high degree of self-motivation and drive- Expertise to travel up to 25% of the time (domestic and international)- Collaborate closely with the Adsorption Process and Systems group as well as other R&D groups- Practical background with porous materials, preferably involving adsorption or catalysis and diffusion at temperatures near ambient- Industrial background in gas separation or purification, particularly for crystalline materials such as zeolites or molecular sieves in cyclic adsorption processes- Operate laboratory test units for physical and adsorption characterization including data collection, analysis and reporting as requested- PhD degree in Chemistry- Demonstrated expertise to quantify and project commercial benefits of material advances- Familiarity with industrial gases and their applications- Participate in and lead commercialization programs in a stage-gated process through concept development to commercialization- Demonstrated leadership and communication expertise are essentialPreferred:- two or more years of relevant industrial background- Design and operate new systems, specification of components, data acquisitions and safety reviewsREQUIREMENTS:Basic:PRAXAIR IS AN EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER - M/F/D/V
